The clinical safety, effectiveness, and stability of refractive surgeries have been identified. Despite the widespread adoption of the surgery, there remains variability in its medical quality control. Currently, China lacks standardized management for the long-term follow-up after refractive surgery. Coupled with the pathophysiological characteristics of myopia, especially high myopia, and neglecting long-term risk monitoring, some myopia or refractive surgery-related complications have already caused irreversible impacts on vision when discovered. This article, based on the importance of standardized long-term postoperative follow-up, emphasizes key populations and monitoring indicators, urging refractive surgery practitioners to pay close attention and ensure the full-cycle quality control of refractive surgery.
