Recently, collagen cross-linking has been an effective and high-security method for the treatment of primary and secondary corneal ectasia and other low biomechanical diseases. In this article, the technological features of conventional collagen cross-linking, rapid cross-linking and trans-epithelial cross-linking has been summarized together. Furthermore, we launched evaluations on the feasibility of intrastromal corneal ring implantation, femtosecond laser and collagen cross-linking combined with penetrating agent. This article also focused on the application in pediatric patients and other indications of the technique.
